The Modern Vocational Training Pilot (ModVoc)

Objectives and Outcomes

AN ANALYSIS OF THE BACKGROUND AND CONTENTS OF THE REPORT

It was our starting point to identify the relationship between the vocational training of six European countries and global competition practices. Our target comprised three essential trades of European business. To achieve an overall European view of this would have demanded more partner countries and our main aim - to develop trade descriptions - would have been too difficult to realize as an extra activity. Thus we agreed on a sample follow-up investigation, in which we chose to include such industrial countries in which the trades in question are common and which actively participated in competitions. We also included countries in which national competitions were organized but which could not take part in global WSC activities because of economic reasons.

Due to different national educational systems and the diverse roles that the participating countries have taken the original aims to compare the suitability of WSC tasks for qualification tasks failed to realize in the way it had been designed to work.
